Permanent Makeup & Microblading Aftercare
Your healed result depends far more on the two weeks after your appointment than on the appointment itself. These are the instructions every client at Brows by Aylin is given, and they apply to microblading, ombré powder brows, nano hair strokes, combo brows and lip shading alike.
- Gently blot the area with clean tissue every hour for the rest of today to remove lymph.
- Wash the area twice daily with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser; pat dry with a clean tissue. Do not rub.
- Apply a rice-grain amount of the provided aftercare ointment with a clean cotton swab after washing, for as many days as advised at your appointment.
- Do not pick, scratch, or peel flaking skin. Let it shed on its own; picking removes pigment and can scar.
- Keep the area dry beyond washing for 10 days: no swimming, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, or heavy sweating.
- No makeup, skincare acids, retinoids, or exfoliants on or near the area for 10 days.
- Avoid direct sun and tanning beds for 4 weeks. After healing, use sunscreen on the area to protect the color.
- Do not touch the area with unwashed hands. Sleep on a clean pillowcase, and try to sleep on your back for the first week.
- Lip procedures: drink through a straw for the first 3 days, avoid spicy, salty, or acidic food while healing, and take your cold-sore medication as directed if you have a history of cold sores.
- Some swelling, redness, tenderness, and darkening of the color are normal in the first week. The color softens as it heals over 4 to 6 weeks.
- If you notice signs of infection (spreading redness, swelling, heat, pus, or fever), contact your physician promptly, and let the studio know.
- Questions? Call or text (334) 728-4742.
What healing looks like, week by week
- Days 1–3
- The colour looks much darker and bolder than the finished result, and the area may feel tender and slightly swollen. This is normal and not what your brows will look like.
- Days 4–10
- Light flaking begins as the skin renews. Do not pick it — flaking skin takes pigment with it. The colour will look patchy and uneven while this happens.
- Weeks 2–3
- Often the stage clients worry about: the colour can look faint or as though it has disappeared, because new skin has formed over the pigment. It comes back.
- Weeks 4–6
- The true healed colour and shape settle in. This is the point at which your initial touch-up is booked to refine the shape and even out anything that healed lighter.
